    The Client

W Hotel is located in the Heart of Doha, a landmark development project in Doha, Qatar, to rejuvenate the heart of the city, whilst preserving some of its most historic areas.

As one of the first 5-star lifestyle hotels in Qatar, W Doha aims to “bring all the energy of New York City” to the vibrant district. A luxurious destination in itself,  W Doha is close to some of Doha’s premier attractions, including Corniche Promenade and the City Center Shopping Mall.

    The Challenge

The W Hotel in Doha was identified by our local partner ACEC as an asset requiring upgraded perimeter security.

Automatic bollard systems were required to be installed above an underground car park. Planning permission was granted following the submission of an engineering solution specially designed by ATG Access.

    The Objective

As a hotel, it was important for the bollards to be aesthetically pleasing as well as secure. Representatives from ATG Access visited the site on several occasions to provide advice and consultation on how to achieve this.

The underground structures and beneath the site also posed limitations on installation depth, meaning that traditional bollards would not be suitable for the project.

    The Solution

ATG Access designed specially engineered outer casings which could be installed through the slab structure and incorporated three VP100 automatic bollard systems which control vehicle access to all entrances.

Aesthetic sleeves in stainless steel where fitted providing a holistic style and a finished look to the project.

    The Results

In order to carry out a successful and satisfactory installation of the project, ATG had specially designed an outer that would not affect the integrity of the slab structure or impinge upon the underground parking.

Once the order was received ATG Access undertook all aspects of the project including the design drawings, provided on-site project management, civil and electrical installation and commissioning of the system.

“We – The Arabian Construction Engineering Company (ACEC) collected the tender for the supply and installation of heavy duty barriers for the college of North Atlantic Qatar. We requested a quotation from ATG Access for the manufacture and supply of the most suitable security products for this project. ACEC subsequently secured the project in May 2008 after a successful technical meeting with the client involving ourselves and ATG Access.”
